Your first visit and what to expect
We want to make your journey to wellness as smooth as possible. Here’s everything you need to know about preparing for your first acupuncture session and what to expect during your visit with us.

Before your appointment
We understand that trying acupuncture for the first time can feel unfamiliar. Our goal is to make your experience comfortable, informative, and personalised from the moment you walk through our door.
Whether you are seeking help for an ACC injury, ongoing pain, neurological rehabilitation, or support for a chronic health condition, we take the time to understand your unique situation and health goals.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early if this is your first visit.
You may wish to bring:
- Your ACC claim number (if applicable)
- Relevant scans, reports, or specialist letters
- A list of current medications
- Any questions you would like to discuss
Comfortable clothing is recommended, especially if treatment will involve the neck, shoulders, back, hips, or legs.

Your initial consultation and addressing concerns
Your first appointment begins with a detailed health assessment. We will discuss:
- Your main health concerns
- Previous injuries or medical conditions
- Current symptoms
We know that some people may feel a little apprehensive about acupuncture, especially regarding needles. We prioritise your comfort and will explain every step of the process. Our practitioners are highly skilled and use very fine needles, often resulting in little to no discomfort. We encourage you to voice any concerns, and we'll ensure you feel relaxed and informed throughout your treatment.

After Treatment
Many of our patients report feeling noticeably tired the day after treatment, particularly during the early stages of care. While this does not occur for everyone, it is a common response that often resolves within 24–48 hours and is frequently followed by improvements in pain, mobility, and overall comfort.
