A Unique Perspective on Pain and Health

My approach to acupuncture is shaped by a unique combination of training and experience in both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Before coming to New Zealand, I trained and practiced as a General Surgeon in China. Later, I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in New Zealand. Together, these experiences have given me a broad understanding of both the structural and functional aspects of human health.

Over the years, I have observed that many acute and chronic pain conditions are not simply local problems affecting muscles, joints, or nerves. In many cases, pain reflects deeper imbalances within the body. While the painful area may be where symptoms are felt, the root cause may involve dysfunction in the body's internal systems, circulation, stress response, digestion, metabolism, or overall physiological balance.

For this reason, my treatment approach differs from many pain-focused therapies. Rather than concentrating solely on the site of pain, I aim to identify and address the underlying patterns contributing to the condition. By helping restore balance and supporting the body's natural healing mechanisms, treatment is designed not only to reduce pain but also to improve overall health and wellbeing.

Many patients initially visit my clinic seeking relief from back pain, neck pain, headaches, arthritis, sciatica, or other chronic conditions. As their treatment progresses, they often notice benefits beyond pain relief. Some experience improvements in digestive health, including reduced acid reflux symptoms. Others report better sleep, improved energy levels, enhanced mental clarity, greater resilience to stress, and a stronger sense of vitality. Patients frequently tell me that they feel healthier as a whole, not just free from pain.

My philosophy is simple: lasting results are often achieved by treating the whole person, not merely the symptom. Through individualized acupuncture and herbal medicine treatment, my goal is to help patients restore balance, improve function, and achieve a better quality of life.
